Autumn in Ikaria has its own kind of magic. 🍁🎨

While fall elsewhere might mean fiery forests of red and gold, here it arrives more softly in golden afternoon light, the rich hues of olive oil, bright marigolds, earthy Greek pumpkins, and the warm colors of seasonal dishes shared around the table.

As the island settles into a gentler rhythm, we’re reminded that every place has its own way of welcoming change, its own traditions, and its own palette of beauty.

Swipe through our little color study of autumn in Ikaria. Which shade is your favorite? 🍂🌿

Wild spirits. Ecstatic dance. The intoxicating power of w**e.🍷

In ancient Greek mythology, the Maenads, whose name means “the raving ones,” were the female followers of Dionysus, god of w**e, revelry, theater, and ecstasy. They honored him through ecstatic dances and wild rites, surrendering to a force that promised liberation from the ordinary world.

It’s no wonder **es named one of their w**es Mainada.

Here, at the Cave of Dionysus in Ikaria, we’re reminded that the spirit of this ancient god still lives on in the island’s relationship with w**e, music, and celebration.

We believe that w**e is about so much more than what’s in the glass. It’s about gathering around a table, dancing until the early hours, sharing stories, and letting yourself be carried away by the moment. We are still a little Dionysian, it appears! 😉🌿

Come experience the w**e, mythology, and living traditions of Ikaria with us.

Some places invite you to slow down the moment you arrive.🌿

Perched above Agios Kirykos, is a little world of its own. Traditional stone architecture, winding pathways, lush gardens, olive trees, and a beautiful pool overlooking the Aegean create a peaceful retreat that feels deeply connected to the landscape of Ikaria.

At Odyssey of W**e Tours, we believe that experiencing an island authentically means getting to know the people who make it special. That’s why we love partnering with locally owned businesses like Pyrgos, supporting the people who call Ikaria home and sharing the unique places they’ve created with our guests.

The best travel experiences aren’t just about where you go, they’re about the people you meet, the places you discover, and the connections you make along the way.

We’re grateful to have Pyrgos as part of our Odyssey. 🍇

Another Odyssey comes to an end, and our hearts are full ❤️

This past week in Ikaria, we discovered the art of olive oil making, tasted natural w**es, learned ancient crafts, met local beekeepers and farmers, made goat’s milk cheese, cooked traditional Ikarian recipes, and danced together to live Greek music.

But beyond everything we experienced, it’s the people who made this week so special. The conversations, the laughter, the shared meals, and the connections formed along the way.

Thank you for joining us on our fall Odyssey. We hope you leave not only with photographs and souvenirs, but also with memories, new friendships, and a little piece of Ikaria to carry with you.

Until our next Odyssey in 2027 🍇🌿

Long before w**e was simply something we drank, it was something we worshipped, celebrated, and shared.

Deep within the Cave of Dionysus in Ikaria, ancient worshippers gathered to honor Dionysus—the god not only of w**e, but of revelry, theater, ecstasy, and liberation.

Archaeological discoveries here offer glimpses into this ancient tradition, and today, that connection still feels remarkably alive.

After this summer's grape harvest, we returned to the cave to pour a libation into the earth and give thanks to Dionysus.

For us, w**e is so much more than a beverage. It's history, mythology, cultural heritage, and a connection between the earth and the divine. 🌍🍷✨

Come explore these ancient connections with us on our upcoming tours. Learn more through the link in our bio.

September is a beautiful time to visit Greece, and Ikaria in particular. The sea is still warm from the summer sun, and beaches are typically less crowded.

The weather also softens, with warm temperatures and a breeze that cools you down. Clouds sweep over the mountains in September, letting us know fall is on the way, but not quite yet. Almost like an invite to pause and enjoy these last moments of summer warmth.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed season to visit Ikaria, September is your month. For more information on our upcoming 2027 tours, click the link in our bio.

Before there is w**e, there is a vineyard.

Before there is a vineyard, there is a year of sun, wind, rain, soil, and patience.

We wait all year for this 🍇 Thank you to those whose hands (and feet! 😉) tenderly make the magic that ends up in our glasses🍷

The best things we ate at αfíαnєs wínєs this summer 😍

A lot of local vegetables. The freshest fish. The best olive oil. More than a little w**e. And the occasional Monday night pizza 🍕

Shoutout to Chef Alex Alexios Damdimopoulos for his incredible (and delicious) artistry 😍 and to Pizza Giorgios for the Monday night bites ✨
