Corfu Tours

We were really impressed with the diversity we saw during our recent visit to Corfu & it’s pretty town which is included in our tour on the Island.

A beautiful mix of Venetian and neeer modern architecture with much more to explore then the average Greek Town, and with this green Ionian Island different in history & also in climate to the dryer windswept Cyclades.

Lots to see but we recommend going either side of the main tourist season.

Enjoying Athens Plaka ❤️
If you visit Greece this year you will probably find yourself in this area which lies around the foot of the Acropolis. It’s a mix if archaeological sites, 19th century architectural styles, cafes, restaurants, markets & shops including touristy souvenir shops to some nice upmarket ones side by side. Lots of energy and a vibrant place to explore. The only downside are pickpockets so we always warn our guests about that. So basic precautions here & your time will be nicely spent l!

An island without cars❤️
Spetses is close enough to the mainland for a short ferry hop from Athens and at one small port in the Peloponnese, just 10 minutes by water taxi. If your short on time but still want to a slice of Greek island life, this is one of our recommendations. Nice cafes & restaurants but book early to find the best accommodation.

New walkway at the Acropolis 🏛❤️
A special layer of concrete paving now greets visitors from the main entrance & will surely avoid the many bruised knees caused by the previous slippery & rough rock surface. Wheelchair users and many others with limited walking will now find their visit much enhanced!
It was controversial to make any change to the site but the architects say they can remove the concrete without damage if needs be.

The Byzantine Museum 🏛❤️
With one of the largest such collections in the world and just a short walk from the main square of Syntagma in Athens, this is worth a visit. A center of Byzantine culture for hundreds of years, this period is overshadowed by the earlier classical works. Housed in a beautiful building with a nice leafy cafe it is also an active museum with lots of temporary exhibitions through the year.

The Pelion Peninsula 🏖🗻🌲Mythical Centaurs Mountain
Home to the centaurs of mythology who lived in the local caves, Pelion is a more off the beaten track destination ideal for families & others who want to combine their holiday with activities like hiking, biking or sailing. With a mix of forest, mountain, sea, and around 30 stone built villages scattered throughout, touring the peninsula perhaps provides a better representation of Greece also.

Old & new in Athens 🇬🇷❤️
Built around 1050 AD the old Kapnikarea church sits in the center of the main shopping street of Ermou in central Athens. There is another almost as old at just a minutes walk.
Beautifully decorated these preserved orthodox churches were usually built on top of earlier Greek temples & are wonderful places to see when exploring Athens by foot.

Visiting the New Acropolis Museum Athens❤️
A main highlight of Athens, the museum is a beautiful piece of architecture mounted on pedestals above excavations through layers of the old city from Roman houses to a Byzantine church, & which you can also see during your visit. With the Acropolis main entrance just meters away it’s a great combination for a shore excursion & for anyone in Athens for their first time.
