There is much more to Elounda than its five-star resorts. 🇬🇷

On the northeastern coast of Crete, overlooking Mirabello Bay, Elounda combines the polish of one of the island’s best-known resort areas with the character of a small Cretan seaside town. Set high on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Delphi was one of the most important religious centers of the ancient Greek world. The sanctuary was dedicated to Apollo and became renowned for its oracle, where the Pythia delivered prophecies sought by rulers, cities, and travelers from across the ancient world.

Today, a visit brings together history, archaeology, and one of mainland Greece’s most dramatic landscapes. Highlights include the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Treasury, the ancient theater, and the Delphi Archaeological Museum, whose collections span more than a thousand years of history.

For beach days:
🏖️ Limnonari is one of the easiest choices for younger children thanks to its calm, protected bay.
🏖️ Panormos is spacious, sheltered and convenient for lunch, although the water gets deeper a little further from shore.
🏖️ Stafylos is close to Skopelos Town and works well if you want to combine swimming with time in Chora.
🏖️ Kastani is the famous Mamma Mia! filming beach and an easy addition to a family itinerary.
