To everyone who booked a spot in my Greek Sweets Workshop last year—you are the real MVPs (Most Valuable Pastry-makers)!

We rolled, we folded, we drenched everything in honey, and we laughed until the flour settled. I am so incredibly grateful that 2025 was a “sold out” kind of year. Seeing you master the phyllo dough was the highlight of my season!

Another portokalopita workshop ( first time with ) has wrapped up successfully, marking a delightful afternoon filled with citrus aromas and creative energy. Our participants dove into the secrets of traditional Greek orange pie, from zesting and syrup-making to amazing plating techniques, all while sharing laughs and kitchen stories.

Highlights from the Workshop

• The hands-on session guided attendees in crafting authentic portokalopita using locally sourced oranges and classic phyllo pastry.

• Everyone enjoyed tasting their creations together, exchanging tips and twists on this beloved dessert.

We had such a joyful group in the kitchen: a lovely German couple joined us, with one partner having surprised the other with this experience as a special birthday gift! Alongside them, three amazing friends from Australia — with Italian, Greek, and Iranian roots — brought incredible energy, laughter, and creativity to the table.

Our guest from Colmar, France were so enthusiastic about the orange 🍊 pie that this tour was a Christmas 🎄 present 🎁 for the family. They first tried portakolopita in Crete and they were looking for ways to prepare it themselves ! And here they found us in Athens while traveling for New Years in Athens !

Today I wanted to share with you some facts about tour guiding and why do I LOVE 🧡 the job that I am doing and why I wanted to pass this love through and difference it makes to book a tour guide ;

🔸Tour guides are multilingual - in my case its 4 languages ( Turkish 🇹🇷, English 🇬🇧, Russian 🇷🇺, Kazakh 🇰🇿)fluent and by the end of 2025 I plan to add Greek 🇬🇷 to that !

🔸They possess extensive knowledge about the destination - We undergo rigorous training and research to acquire in-depth knowledge about the history, culture, and landmarks of the places they introduce to tourists - BA in Travel Agency management and Masters in MSc in Sience with Major Tourism

🔸They have exceptional storytelling skills - A good tour guide knows how to engage their audience through captivating storytelling - On my tours you will at least hear 3-5 mythological stories

🔸Tour guides are experts in crowd management - Well we design our routes in a way to avoid the crowd and reach from@place to place in a most efficient , interesting and effective way.

🔸They are skilled at adapting to unexpected situations - We are so aware that everyone has different needs and if something unexpected happens, we are always prepared.

🔸Tour guides are passionate about their work - This is essential - If you meet a tour guide- who is not enthusiastic about what they do - run away , you will not feel the spirit of hospitality!

🔸They provide insider tips and recommendations - We will always share with you their experience that will@always save you time and money . Better than Google or AI.

🔸They create personalized experiences - Event though the itinerary is the same for each tour - we will always make sure you will have personalised experience that nobody else had since we are trained to put extra effort to get to know our group individually and each member will have a UNIQUE experience on their own !

I just found out that in 1891 Emiliano Mercado del Toro, World’s oldest living man 2004-2007, born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico (d. 2007) was born the same day as me!

So this says it all - Next years resolution is to visit Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and get some insights from Emiliano about secrets of long life 😉
