1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Exploring the different Islands and seeing them through the eyes of our expert captain (Sotiris) and our wonderful and knowledgeable guide (Malda). We learnt and laughed lots.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be open minded and flexible so you get the most out of the people you meet, the places you visit and the food and drink you get to try.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes - the company was locally owned and very focussed on recycling. The restaurants and taverns we visited were all small and family owned.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic - by far the highlight of our trip to Greece.

"Responsible and adventurous island hopping with great crew, unpretentious boat and great adventures! Diving from Tahita and sleeping in the dark unpopulated waters was unforgettable. Inform yourselves well because comfort is low, but it’s not about that at all. Sea sickness fades quickly, memories stay."

"Poliegos is a miraculously pristine island... The sole inhabitants of this island, which is located between Kimolos and Milos, are its goats and their shepherd, who stand proudly on the volcanic hills and rocks that have been carved by time by the crystal clear sea into marvelous formations... Access is possible only by private yacht."

We love swimming and scuba diving at the deserted island of Polyegos, an area where the Mediterranean Monk Seal Monahus monahus lives. We love spending the night on the anchor and enjoying a barbecue on the beach under the starry sky!

«Sailing close-hauled in a strong breeze in Tahita, a boat that seems designed to slice through the Aegean white horses (or goats if you’re Greek) was the most exciting part of this trip for me. Equally memorable were the encounters with local people over meze and drinks after a day of walking, swimming and sailing. A unique experience. The Meltemi, strong northern winds in the summer, offers excellent sailing conditions although sometimes it can be challenging especially if you are sailing for the first time.

Here are our tips for enjoying your sailing holiday to the max:

- Be flexible! Choose a different sailing route or moor at a different bay which is protected from the weather. Go with the weather!

- Plan your sailing trip in Greece around the Small Cyclades islands, which are protected from Naxos island and you can enjoy short sailing legs from island to island hiding from the Meltemi...

- Plan your sailing trip around the Cyclades so you sail downwind and avoid going against the strong wind,

- Look for a window of opportunity early in the morning or in the evening to head upwind,

- Prefer to spend the windiest day of the week in a sheltered harbor or bay and explore the island you visit - there are so many options for sites to visit and activities to enjoy!

- Decrease your chances of facing the Meltemi by booking a sailng holiday in spring or autumn,

- Hire a professional skipper that knows the area very well, even if you have a skipper’s license.

- If you can only travel in July or August and you wish to try sailing for the first time with your family, consider also a different sailing area such as the Ionian islands which offer a more tranquil sailing experience.
