With our new, good friends, Tanner , Eli and Aaron, we had the chance to see in first hand the mastic harvest, some valuable insights in old days Chios local life, as well as the spring's natural beauties of the island together with some of the unique sight seeings.

Ur in your mid-40s, haven't swam non-stop 3km in open sea since you were 12, got a recently injured left arm and can't swim freestyle, only back/breaststroke-ish...,

An hour later,
almost all of the 30 guys and gals have finished the event long time ago,
have even taken the memory pic all together,
..you still swim, ... all alone,

the sun dives red in the background infront of you,
waters beneath you are black, fishing boats getting pilgrims to your destination rock island are passing by, but in a distance,
..you still swim, ... all alone,

the figure of St.Stephen's chapel and rocks around, have finally cleared out,
your friends are waiting ya in the seaside

u still swim, ...
not alone !

Hi to you !!!
August 1st today and here, @ Friendly Chios Rides, we got to dive! This late afternoon @18.00, swim 1mile with us, in these crystal clear mediterranean waters, or jump alternatively, on one of the many fishing boats, to reach the little rock island of St.Stephen, on the west coast of our mastical Homer island, where afterwards, there'll be an all night musical traditional gathering celebrating tommorow's feast of the translations of the Saint's relics.

A fire that broke out shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday on forestland on the island of Chios was burning hard later in the day due to strong winds in the area.

Here in Homer's island, we're all celebrating the great feast and local holiday, of our very own protector and advocator, our well beloved sister in Christ, St.Markella (https://lnkd.in/eUDYh6M). We, all of us, here, in Friendly Chios Rides, find this time to send our very own prayers to Lord, prayers for the well being/prosper of e v e r y human being, situated in our land and any other land, or travelling all over the world, as well for the nature itself with all our little living neighbors and friends, the lovely animals.

The holy and glorious Virgin-martyr Markella of Chios (also Marcella) is the patron saint of Chios and was born and lived in the village of Volissos of Chios. Her feast day is celebrated on July 22.
