Crete is home to 11+ indigenous grape varieties.
These are just 4 of our favorites.
Manousakis Winery- Nostos Romeiko
🍇 Romeiko is a red though this is a white wine. It is the most widely planted grape variety in Chania. You'll find it as a white, rose, and as delicious sun-dried dessert wines.
The 2025 vintage is showing off it's new label and we are obsessed with the artwork.
Patriotis Winery Muscat of Spina
🍇 Muscat of Spina
Spina is a village in the south of Chania that has been producing Muscat grapes for millenia. Don't fret, almost all Muscat of Spina is dry though the nose is bursting with peach, apricot, and white flowers.
Dourakis Winery- Lihnos Vidiano
🍇 Vidiano
Vidiano is our most versatile white wine. It can be fermented in stainless steel, clay, and barrel (sometimes all three in the same wine!). This Vidiano spends time in French oak and emerges with vanilla cream, apple pie, and peach cobbler notes.
Karavitakis Winery Kotsifali
🍇 Kotsifali
Kotsifali is one of 4 red grape varieties on Crete. It's known for it's vibrant cranberry and raspberry aroma and bright acidity on the palate. This ungrafted, wild fermented, aged Kotsifali from old vines will knock your socks off.
We love introducing our guests to our unique grapes. We'd love to take you to the wineries to find your favorite.
