Two lovely comments from our last guests, Richard Metcalfe and family. They came in pre-Covid times and their second trip was postponed for two years due to the pandemic. So glad they made it at last!

Fancy a week in this gorgeous villa this summer 2022? A week in August (3rd -11th) has just become free, due to flight changes for existing guests.
Villa Maria is set in the traditional Cretan village of Stylos, with mini market, coffee shop, tavernas, ancient church, local walks and beautiful views and is just a ten minute drive from the sea and the small beachside town of Kalyves. We’re back up for business again! The sun is shining and the villa is looking splendid. The house is gleaming as usual and we have a new COVID 19 enhanced cleaning regime to reassure guests in this new world we’re in now. The gardens are lush and the pool sparking in the sun.

Just enjoyed a lovely week in the villa, watching spring emerging in Crete after a long spell of wet winter weather for everyone there. We flew this time with Easyjet to Heraklion. Good to try something other than Ryanair but the 25 minute journey from Chaniá is far better (2 hours from Heraklion) so we’ll stick with that in future. Chaniá airport is miles better too. All much quicker than the motorhome though, so can’t complain!

We now have a sign at the end of the lane, created from a bit of driftwood. I thought it would stand out a mile but it’s more blink and you’ll miss it 😂
Still, it will be something to look out for for all our guests this season.. providing it doesn’t drop off!

Well... we made it all the way to Villa Maria in the motorhome (and back again luckily 😊) Had some amazing weather, beautiful beach walks, lovely lunches discovering new tavernas and did some maintenance too. The villa was warm and cosy with the underfloor heating in the evenings and the oranges are on the trees ripening. It did rain and we had a storm but it’s a lovely time of year to go to escape the greyness of the UK. Next time we might fly though via Athens though.......

On our way over for some winter sun and can’t wait to get there! Taking the longer route as direct flights haven’t started yet so we’re driving 😬 with the dogs 😬 in a motorhome for the first time 😬😬.
So far we’re near Dijon. Next stop through an alpine tunnel then ferry across from Italy to Greece, then ferry from Athens to Crete. It’ll be worth it....!
