Every village has its special places - and in Gavalochori, The Swallow Craft Shop (Το Χελιδόνι) is one of them.

Located in the heart of the village square, this charming little shop is run by the wonderful Monica, who warmly welcomes visitors and proudly shares the story behind the beautiful items on display. Inside you’ll find handmade lace, pottery, jewellery, soaps, artwork and traditional Cretan products created by local artisans.

The shop grew out of a women’s craft cooperative that began in the 1990s, helping preserve traditional Cretan craftsmanship and support local makers. Today it continues that spirit, offering visitors a chance to discover authentic pieces that truly represent the culture of Crete.

Stopping by is always a pleasure - Monica is full of knowledge about the crafts and the village, and browsing the shop feels more like visiting a friend than shopping in a store.
