When you live in Crete, you eventually stop being impressed by the sea, mountains and beautiful sunsets…
Well… almost 😄

And then you catch yourself thinking: it’s actually these simple moments that make you fall in love with Crete again and again.

1️⃣ Morning coffee with a sea view ☕🌊
When the sea isn’t a tourist attraction anymore — it’s simply part of your morning.
And yes… after that, an ordinary office view can feel a little disappointing 😅

Is Samaria Gorge worth visiting?

Samaria Gorge is not the kind of excursion where you get off the bus, take a few photos and leave.

It’s a full day where you swap the beach for mountains, your sunbed for a hiking trail, and the usual question “Where shall we go tonight?” for:
“How much longer do we have to walk?” 😄

🏔️ Huge cliffs, spectacular mountain views, silence and a completely different side of Crete are waiting for you...

And then comes that moment…

You reach the famous Iron Gates, the narrowest part of the gorge, look up at the towering cliffs and suddenly understand why people make the effort.

But there’s one thing to remember 👀

Samaria is not an easy walk.

The route is long, so comfortable shoes, water, a hat and reasonable fitness are essential.

And then… the reward. 🌊

You reach the sea and the little village of Agia Roumeli.

You sit by the water, order something delicious, look back at the mountains and think:

“Okay… that was absolutely worth it.” ❤️

So, should you go?

👉 Yes, if you want to see Crete beyond the beaches.

👉 Yes, if you love nature and adventure.
