Today completes our Spring Season of Garden Group Tours for Pacific Horticulture. The Delaware and Pennsylvania tour, with some New Jersey snuck in too, was a really incredible experience. Cheryl Nichols, formerly Hedpgeth, designed this beautiful tour almost three decades ago. Covid disruption had put it to bed for a while but after a quick visit last August, Sterling revived the routing with a new accommodating stay at the Inn at Whitewing Farm, taking over the entire property for our guests and hosts to stay. It is family run by Lance, Sandy and Sam with assistance from their dedicated staff. Occasionally you will also see a loving mother in law or grandchildren rolling up sleeves and pitching in too. We adore them and feel so blessed to have such a spectacular place to house our guests for the tour.
A big, big thank you to Sue Goetz for sharing her plant passion and expertise while staying at the inn and being on tour with the guests this week, too!
From Bartram’s, Mt Cuba, to Longwood, Meadowbrook Farms, Winterthur, to Chanticleer, the true reason this garden tour became magic was the guests warm reception of our home gardeners, David Culp and Michael, Jenny Rose Carey and Gus, Hannah, and Joe, Reggie and Frank Thomas, James Golden, Charles Cresson, and the staff at The Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art. And of course all the catering and meal planning involved from our super duper inn hosts Lance and Sandy, and their recommendations of local delis, wineries and restaurants. This tour is seamless and I am so honored to have brought it back to life to share with our esteemed guests, who in the end are truly what make our tours so successful and memorable. Cheers everyone!
