Passing through the iconic Lion Gate, we make our way up toward the royal palace of ancient Mycenae.
Inside the royal graves, archaeologists discovered remarkable gold jewelry and burial masks, including the famous “Mask of Agamemnon.”
Our journey continues to the so-called Tomb of Clytemnestra, Queen of Mycenae and wife of Agamemnon.
Before sailing to Troy, Agamemnon sacrificed their daughter, Iphigenia, hoping to gain favorable winds for the Greek fleet.
Clytemnestra never forgave him. When he returned after ten years of war, she and her lover, Aegisthus, murdered him.
But the cycle of revenge continued. Her son, Orestes, later killed his own mother to avenge his father.
A tragic story of betrayal, revenge, and blood that forever marked the House of Atreus.

We stand before Mycenae, the most powerful kingdom of the Bronze Age. Rising before us is the magnificent Lion Gate, a timeless symbol of power and authority, protected by the colossal Cyclopean Walls. Their enormous stones were so extraordinary that the ancient Greeks believed only the mythical Cyclopes could have built them.

Here stands the famous Treasury of Atreus, one of the most remarkable funerary monuments of the ancient world. Tradition associates it with Atreus, the father of Agamemnon and Menelaus, the two legendary brothers who led the Greek expedition against Troy. In Mycenae, every stone tells the story of a civilization whose legacy has become immortal.
