🌞18-05/24-05 2025🌞 Meraki Wild Women’s retreat

Hi there! We’re Benthe and Anne, founders of the Meraki Wild Women’s retreat. And because we have our third retreat coming up soon, we thought we’d tell you a little bit about us, and how it all began.

We met working our first job in the Netherlands, when we were fifteen and have been soul sisters ever since. To cut a lifelong friendship story short, we have laughed cried, danced and hiked our way through life together. But most importantly, we are able to carry each other’s hearts when they feel heavy and when we laugh together, it is the most joyous and healing thing.

We share a passion for travel, yoga and life in general, and to balance out busy work schedules, we got in the habit of spending a week at Villa Meraki together every year. Villa Meraki is Anne’s family home on the north-eastern coast of Crete, surrounded by the mountains and the sea and those weeks that we spend there in each other’s company have always been incredibly energising and profoundly comforting to us and we come back feeling invigorated and reborn.

It was during one of those weeks that the idea for the Meraki Wild Women’s retreat was born. We believe that as women, we get a tremendous part of our nourishment from female friends and sisters. In this magical embrace, we can replenish, nurture, share and reflect. We can laugh, cry, be quiet. We can just simply be.

Having organised two retreats now, we are extremely grateful to have shared this experience with such wonderful groups of women. And we are so excited for the next one:

Here are some sweet memories from our May retreat. Benthe and I were just saying to each other how quickly time has gone this summer. Now that the weather has finally caught up, we have fully immersed ourselves in living life outdoors as much as possible.
We combine long days of work with evening strolls and cheeky café catch-ups. The weekends are filled with birthday parties, baby showers and many other social events.
We lead extremely blessed lives, which we are so grateful for. But it is also one of those times in the year where I constantly catch myself saying; 'Maybe next week, Ah yes, we still have to pencil that in as well, can we park it until after summer'?
At the end of summer, when our social calendar is filled to the brim on top of work, I often feel a little tug from the earth. My hands yearn to be touching soil, and plant things in the garden. My soul relishes the quiet morning walks through the forest every morning. Something is encouraging me to ground, to slowly go inward again and reconnect to the flow of nature.
Which is exactly why we decided to host another wild women's retreat at Villa Meraki in October. We felt that it was time again for morning Yin yoga practice, and breakfasts admiring the view of the mountains and the Aegean blue. We look forward to connecting with wonderful women, and, in loving connection, come back to nature, our ground. To connect to life's flow, that will gently nudge us towards autumn as we enjoy the sunshine on the islands of the gods.
