Enjoy your freedom.... Campers can stop wherever they want!
Below the translated notification by the Greek Ministry of Tourism. You can stop with a camper at any place where a car is allowed to stop according to the Road Traffic Code.
Free camping is not allowed. But there is no law that you can not stay in your camper 24h.
"Today's meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Tourism, with the President, Mrs. Elisabeth Michaelidou and members of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Motorhome Club, regarding the issue of stopping and parking of motorhomes, ended in a positive atmosphere.
During the meeting, there was complete agreement on the direction of the legislation of article 27 of Law 5170/2025.
It became clear that this provision allows the stopping and parking of motorhomes wherever and as specified in the Road Traffic Code.
There was also a common understanding on the enhanced need to protect the protection of public spaces and the natural and cultural environment from their abusive and arbitrary occupation.
Furthermore, following the relevant proposal by ELAT, the Ministry of Tourism recognizes the need to create an institutional framework for the provision of special temporary parking areas for motorhomes (Camper Stop) and will propose that the relevant initiative be taken by the competent Ministries."
