MICRO CLIMATE: Kalymnos is basically a big rock which heats up and produces one huge hot air rising thermal. This often means that approaching storms swerve around us instead of watering us. If you have a good view you can sometimes see this in action, like the last few days- Kos, Rhodes and Crete are being drenched are we are still waiting. We need some real rain!!

EVERY MONTH: On Kalymnos has a different vibe. In October the weather is cooler at around 22C, the climbing is in full swing and our other visitors are older- walkers, hikers, and those enjoying the island and Greekness more than the sun, sand & sea. We can finally take a breath and start to think about the long winter ahead...

676 METERS: Above sea level - The Church Profits Illias. You've seen the little white dot from below. It is having some maintenance work and last night I was invited to a small evening gathering and I was allowed to sleep in the church building. Only my 3rd visit in 26 years. A very challenging 2hour 30 minutes uphill. I was told of an alternative uphill used by the goatheards, which I found by mistake on my way down this lunchtime, including a small church (Agios Theologos) and 2 more under construction. A challenging descent in 1 hour 15 minutes! Shame about the humidity but the views are still amazing 🤩

RAIN: We had a few drops but it looks like the weather is about to break.... Thunderstorm Warning from 5a.m. tomorrow from the Greek Weather Department. It usually last 1-3 days then back to fine and sunny until at least mid November. For Sale - 1 Pair Black Wellington Boots, size 43, New. 20 Euro.
