Wie kan zich Marley de ezel nog herinneren? 🦄
Wij hebben in 2007 twee ezeldames van de ezelopvang verzorgd, die grappig genoeg Bob en Marley heetten. Ze mochten bij ons komen wonen, en onze gasten vonden het superleuk om ze te voeren, aaien en korte ritjes (alleen kinderen) te maken. Bob ging al snel met pensioen, maar Marley bleef gezellig bij ons wonen. In 2011 werd Marley helaas gestolen, maar doordat ze was gechipt is ze gelukkig getraceerd in 2012 bij de dieven in het Zuiden van Corfu! Dat was een bijzondere ervaring.
Marley had het erg naar haar zin in de zomer met alle gasten en in de winter ging ze naar de ezelopvang op Corfu. Toen wij zagen hoe erg zij daar genoot met haar ezelvriendjes, hebben wij besloten Marley vervroegd met pensioen te sturen. Sindsdien organiseren wij wel eens fietstochten naar de ezelopvang om met Marley te knuffelen. Bedankt Sophie, voor het bezoeken van Marley!
📍🇬🇷 Corfu, Agios Ioannis and Corfu Donkey Rescue Center
How Greek is this sight? 🥹 This is Marley the donkey 🥰. For many years she was a happy (summer) ☀️inhabitant of Agios Ioannis village. Children staying in apartments could help feed and brush 🪥her, and pet her or take a little ride (no harm done, only small children). In the mean time she helped trimming the grass 🌱🌱 around the swimming pool. Here I am helping Marley change trimming positions a few years ago 🤪 so I could take a swim.
The story behind Marley takes us to the center… where she would spend her winters ❄️. And now that she is a pensioner, all her time!
Around 1️⃣8️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ the first donkey was imported from Malta to Corfu. They had to work very hard 😔and the lack of knowledge about how to take care of them meant that they were not treated well.
Now that donkeys are not ❌ used so much anymore the Corfu Donkey Rescue center tries to rescue the old and/or injured ones 💙❤️🩹🩹 and prevent them from going to Italy to get slaughtered 😱. Great work!
When you visit the center you can pet and brush them 😍, and of course you should make a donation! 💶 For €10 you can buy one week of donkey food and for €90 you can ‘adopt’ a donkey or your choice for a year 😊. The center is open everyday from 10-16h ⏱.
