Dirk von Zitzewitz joins the Hellas Rally team
A Life of Motorsports Excellence
Dirk von Zitzewitz embodies the legacy of a true motorsports family. His passion for racing was sparked early, receiving his first motorcycle as a Christmas gift in 1978. At just 14 years old, Dirk competed in his first race, and by 18, he secured his first German Enduro Championship title.
Dirk went on to dominate the German Enduro Championship wirh 15 titles across various categories. His motorcycle racing highlights include multiple wins and finishing fifth in the Dakar Rally in 1997, earning recognition as “Rookie of the Year” and as the best German rider.
In 2002, Dirk transitioned from two wheels to four after being invited to co-drive for Mark Miller at the Dakar Rally. His exemplary performance earned him a place on the Volkswagen factory team in 2005, and since 2006, he has worked closely with Giniel de Villiers, winning the Dakar Rally in 2009. The duo delivered an unforgettable victory, etching Dirk’s name into motorsports history.
Dirk diversified his career further in 2017, taking on side-by-side buggy racing where he has consistently achieved podium finishes. Today, he competes in desert rallies, collaborates with top drivers like Yazeed Al Rajhi, and actively engages in the sport by organizing motorcycle training courses and adventure tours worldwide.
