During 11–17 October 2025, hosted the second part of the youth exchange „Youth Hostels and Sports Activities“ in Kryoneri Korinthias. Young people from Greece and Germany International Youth-Exchanges by DJH were welcomed to the Hostel "Elisson" for a week filled with sports, culture, and unforgettable shared moments! 🇬🇷✨

The participants trained at the football field of Kryoneri, hiked around the vineyards, visited the archaeological site of Nemea and ran at the ancient stadium!

The location offered the perfect setting to explore the landscape and experience rural Greece. From cultural visits to nature excursions, the young people discovered the beauty of the region while forming new friendships and deepening their sense of belonging. 🌿🏞️

During 21–27 July 2025, in cooperation with International Youth-Exchanges by DJH organised the youth exchange "Youth Hostels and Sports Activities" in Rotenburg-Wümme . This brought young people from Germany and Greece together for a week full of connection, learning, and shared experiences! The participants were part of the Greek football club academy „Aetos“ and the JGS Kawu JSG KAWU 🌿✨

Staying at the Rotenburg-Wümme Youth Hostel gave the group the chance to explore the region, enjoy the peaceful countryside, and grow closer as a community. Through sports, outdoor activities, and creative workshops — from football and climbing to canoeing and city tours in Rotenburg and Bremen — the participants discovered new strengths in themselves and in each other. ⚽

One of the most memorable moments was our visit to the Weser Stadium and the Youth Hostel in Bremen, where the manager of Thorsten Richter welcomed the group.

At the end of the week, a reflection circle allowed the participants to express what they learned and what they hope for in the future — including the return meeting in Greece this autumn. 🇬🇷✨

"Training on the Job" - Internships for young German professionals in Greek youth hostels.

The Greek Youth Hostels Association hosted in November 2022 young motivated practitioners from the Regional Youth Hostels Association Unterweser-Ems (northern Germany) Jugendherbergen zwischen Nordsee und Sauerland

The practicals offered insights in an exciting field of work at the interface between education and youth welfare on the one hand and the tourism industry on the other.

These individual exchanges followed the methodical principle of "job shadowing" which gave to young people from Germany an authentic experience of everyday work in various professional fields in Greek youth hostels, such as housekeeping, guest care and educational programmes with the main guest groups of youth hostels (schools, youth groups, families) have been presented.

Ειδικό Πρόγραμμα συνεργασίας μεταξύ Συλλόγου Ξενώνων Νέων Ελλάδας και Περιφερειακού Συνδέσμου Ξενώνων Νέων DJH Unterweser-Ems , στο πλαίσιο του Ελληνογερμανικού Ιδρύματος Νεολαίας / Βρέμη & Ρότενμπουργκ, Βορειοδυτική Γερμανία, 24-30.5.2022.

Ειδικό πρόγραμμα ανταλλαγής εμπειριών μεταξύ Ξενώνων Νέων από Ελλάδα και Γερμανία:

Στο διάστημα 21-28 Μαρτίου 2022 πραγματοποιήθηκε με επιτυχία στην Ελλάδα (Κορινθία) ένα ειδικό πρόγραμμα για υπεύθυνους λήψης αποφάσεων και εργαζόμενους σε ξενώνες νέων, από τους δύο συνδέσμους ξενώνων νέων της Ελλάδας και της Γερμανίας.

Ο Σύλλογος Ξενώνων Νέων Ελλάδας και ο Γερμανικός Σύνδεσμος Ξενώνων Νέων (Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk) / Περιφερειακή Ένωση Unterweser-Ems στη βορειοδυτική Γερμανία, συνεργάζονται την τελευταία πενταετία στους τομείς της κινητικότητας νέων, της ανταλλαγής τεχνογνωσίας και επιμόρφωσης εξειδικευμένου προσωπικού για ξενώνες νέων.

Σε αυτό το πρόγραμμα, η 8-μελής γερμανική αποστολή γνώρισε την καθημερινή εργασία σε ελληνικούς ξενώνες νέων, με την υποστήριξη του νεοσύστατου Ελληνογερμανικού Ιδρύματος Νεολαίας (EΓΙN-DGJW).

Μια διευρυμένη δυνατότητα πρακτικής άσκησης θα δοθεί επίσης μέσα στο 2022, στο πλαίσιο ενός προγράμματος πρακτικής άσκησης του ΕΓΙΝ.
