Safaris are often one of the most complex and unique trips to plan, which is why I absolutely love them.
I recently finalised an £18k luxury South Africa itinerary for a lovely couple who have never been on a safari before.
On the face of it, it's "just" a holiday.
In reality, it's a project.
23 days.
Seven different stays.
International flights.
Internal flights.
Car hire.
Private transfers.
Safari.
Golf.
Wine region.
Garden Route.
Cape Town...Even a visit to see friends.
Every part has to fit together.
Will that drive be too long after a flight?
Does the timing allow enough flexibility if something changes?
Have I built the route in the right order?
Is there a better way to experience it?
Which supplier is most suited to quote?
Those are the questions I spend my time thinking about, liaising with my suppliers, and meticulously crafting an itinerary, so my clients don't have to.
When I worked in procurement, I was managing complex projects every day.
Different industry.
Exactly the same mindset.
It's funny really... I thought I was leaving those skills behind when I left corporate.
Turns out, it became one of the biggest reasons my clients trust me with their holidays.
