➡️ Swipe for the bath of dreams 🛁

A huge thank you to the team at for a wonderful complimentary stay this weekend (Roxy dog included!)

The Store has a fascinating history. Once Oxford's iconic Boswells department store, a fixture of the city for nearly 300 years, it has been beautifully transformed into one of Oxford's most distinctive luxury hotels.

I've stayed in plenty of hotels over the years, but it's often the little details that make the biggest difference.

Right in the heart of Oxford, The Store combines contemporary luxury with plenty of character. Our suite had beautiful views across the city, a gorgeous freestanding bath, a record player complete with vinyl, and even QR codes on the windows explaining the landmarks you could see from your room.

Travelling with both my daughter and our dog, Roxy, we were especially impressed by how genuinely dog-friendly the hotel is. Not just "dogs allowed", but properly welcomed. Roxy had her own bed, treats and toys waiting for her, and I think she settled in quicker than we did!

The rooftop bar deserves a special mention too. The views across Oxford's rooftops are stunning. Sadly, it's adults only, which Bethanie was not best pleased about, but it did make for a lovely spot to relax with a drink while taking in the city skyline.

We also enjoyed drinks in the hotel's beautiful bar, where many of the spirits are distilled on-site. Their Store Gin was a particular highlight and proof that they take their drinks as seriously as their hospitality.

A few other touches stood out:
• A beautiful spa and gym
• Thoughtful sustainability initiatives, including donating unwanted guest items to local charities
• Individually designed rooms
• Warm, welcoming service throughout
• Genuine dog-friendly hospitality, which is surprisingly rare in city-centre hotels

Luxury is one thing. Attention to detail is another. The Store Oxford manages to do both exceptionally well.

And yes, if you're looking for a luxury city break in Oxford, you can book The Store through and I'll happily take care of all the details.

Controversial, but someone has to say it... 🌍

Some of my clients are quietly stepping back from long haul, not because of where they're going, but because of how they're getting there. When your route runs through the Middle East and that no longer feels straightforward, the whole trip changes shape.

So I've been building alternatives. And honestly, some of them are making me question why we default to long haul at all.

The Adriatic. Fly into Dubrovnik, spend a few days in Croatia - I'm obsessed with a restored 18th century bishop's palace on Korčula, six rooms, three-year waiting list - then cross into Montenegro. There's a property converted from a 19th century fortress on its own private island. You arrive by boat. I'll leave that with you.

Norway in summer (pictured) is consistently underestimated. Fjord-side, completely removed from the world, evenings that never go dark. The feedback from clients has been quietly extraordinary.

Italy never needs much of a case. Dolomites to Tuscany. Verona into Lake Garda. The Aeolian Islands for anyone who wants to properly disappear.

Or La Palma, Hotel Hacienda de Abajo. Colonial, unhurried, unknown to most. That's rather the point.

None of these are consolation prizes. They're world-class. And the clients who've switched aren't looking back.

Long haul feeling complicated right now? Drop me a message.

Conversation, connection, curated experiences, and beautifully unique luxury hotels with Journeys

Day 1
Arrival at our partner hotel TEMPLETON GARDEN
to check in, with a beautiful gift upon arrival. Then on to welcome drinks at the The Churchill Bar & Terrace to network with fellow advisors and carefully selected suppliers

Day 2
Time spent with incredible suppliers, followed by lunch at Albert’s Schloss, then on to the stunning Hotel Café Royal for cocktails, a wellness talk, and a tour of one of their suites. We finished the day with a real treat for the ears, an opera performance in the Pompidou 🎶

Day 3
More conversations with inspiring travel providers at our FAM-meet venue The Stafford London, including a visit to their hidden wine cellar and elegant rooms. A quintessential London hotel and absolutely one to experience.

Lunch and a hotel tour followed with our hosts The Athenaeum Hotel, home to one of the best spas in London and incredible views across Green Park. Thank you Edward for your hospitality.

We wrapped up at Hard Rock Cafe London with a raffle, nibbles, country music, and a bit of celebration. And yes, I finally won a raffle prize!

This week was a reminder of why I do what I do.

It wasn’t about booking numbers or chasing volume. It was about sitting across from a genuine partner and sharing the kind of travel experiences you can’t quite capture on a website.

And honestly, that’s the part I love most.

As travel consultants, we’re the human link between a supplier’s product and a client’s dream itinerary. We don’t just pass on information, we translate it, shape it, and bring it to life in a way that actually means something.

Events like this make it personal. We’re not just learning about a destination or a hotel, we’re experiencing it, feeling it, understanding the details that really matter.

And that’s the difference. Not just a transaction, but a relationship.

Thank you Micaela Journeys and the team, here's to many more beautifully curated trips for our future mutual clients ✨

UAE off the table this spring? Here's where to book instead, and how to get there. ☀️✈️

The FCDO has advised against travel to the UAE and the wider Middle East region. But it's not just the destination - the flight routes through the Gulf are disrupted too.

At we've spent this week rerouting bookings and finding alternatives that are warm, luxurious, and genuinely accessible from the UK right now 👇

🇲🇦 Marrakech: 3.5 hrs direct, no overfly, 25°C, private riads & your desert fix
🇮🇩 Bali: via Singapore or KL, completely clear of the region, 30°C & jungle villas
🇹🇿 Zanzibar: via Nairobi or Istanbul, white sand & boutique luxury
🇨🇻 Cape Verde: 6 hrs direct, Atlantic route, volcanic beauty still under the radar
🇹🇭 Thailand: via Singapore or KL, sky bars + private pool villas + 32°C
🇪🇸 Canary Islands: 4 hrs direct, luxury golf resorts, completely unaffected
🇲🇺 Mauritius: Air Mauritius fly direct from Heathrow, One&Only & Constance await

Every one of these is bookable now for March & April. DM us and we'll handle everything - flights routed away from the conflict zone, hotels, transfers, the lot.

And please... don't give up on your spring escape. The world is still out there, it's still beautiful, and you still deserve it. You just might need a different flight path to get there. ✨

Save this for anyone who needs to rebook 🔖

There’s a lot of noise right now around travel to the UAE following the latest FCDO update. If you’re due to travel to the UAE soon, here’s a calm, clear overview of what to do.

1️⃣ Package holiday (flight + hotel booked together, ATOL protected)
Under Package Travel Regulations, if the FCDO advises against travel to your destination during your dates, you are generally entitled to cancel without cancellation charges.
Some operators are also offering additional flexibility as a goodwill gesture.
If you’re already in resort and disruption occurs, your tour operator has a duty of care.

Please don’t cancel before speaking to your travel provider. Let them confirm your options in writing.

2️⃣ Flights and hotel booked separately
Check your airline’s latest policy, as decisions are being made case by case.
Review your hotel rate type. Flexible bookings may allow cancellation without penalty, while non-refundable rates remain subject to the hotel’s terms unless a waiver is issued.
Transfers, excursions and insurance are all subject to individual provider terms.
Most standard insurance policies do not cover acts of war or travel against FCDO advice.

Avoid cancelling flights independently unless you are certain of your position, as this can remove your ability to claim.

3️⃣ Travelling within 48 to 72 hours
Wait for official communication from your airline or operator.
Monitor FCDO advice directly.
Ensure your contact details are up to date.
If you are abroad, follow local authority guidance and stay in contact with your provider.

I completely understand this feels unsettling. The safest approach is simple: pause, check your booking type, confirm your rights, then decide.

If you are unsure what category your booking falls into, message me privately and I will help you work it out.

Love and peace to everyone affected 💔

I’ve noticed a definite uptick in multi-generational holiday enquiries recently, I’ve had two today alone.
Multi-generational holidays sound lovely in theory, but in reality, they’re often where good intentions go to die and nothing gets finalised because everyone is exhausted.
Different budgets, different energy levels, different ideas of what “a nice break” looks like, and usually one person trying to make it all work around a demanding job and a full diary.
This photo was taken in Lefkada, Greece, where we stayed in a gorgeous luxury villa right on the doorstep of a little village. A simple enjoyment of the sea with Nanny and Granddaughter, and it’s a reminder of why these trips matter far more than the destination itself.
For most families I speak to, the challenge isn’t desire, it’s bandwidth. Planning something that works for grandparents, parents and children takes time and mental energy that many people simply don’t have.

A few things I’ve learnt make all the difference with multi-generational travel:
• Choosing accommodation that allows people to be together without being on top of each other
• Reducing choice early so decisions don’t drag on for months
• Accepting that not everything needs to be done as a group
• Treating the logistics properly, because that’s what makes the trip feel effortless
• Deciding the absolute non-negotiables

These trips are often some of the most meaningful you’ll ever take, particularly as parents get older and family diaries get fuller.

When the planning feels like the barrier, having someone take that weight off can make all the difference. That’s exactly what I do through - a little personal travel curator in your pocket taking care of everything.
