"MEZE" - a selection of small dishes served as appetizers in parts of the Middle East, the Balkan, North Africa and Greece.
The term meze is generally applied to any foods and snacks consumed alongside an alcoholic beverage (in Greece mostly wine, ouzo, tsipouro).
In Greece, "meze" is served in restaurants called mezedopoleíon and tsipourádiko or ouzeri - a type of cafe that serves ouzo or tsipouro.
So from now you know you are enjoying not just ordinary snack but "meze" while you are drinking and talking. 😉
