Good news for history lovers visiting Santorini!

After a precautionary closure for safety checks, Santorini’s major archaeological sites are set to reopen following successful inspections - except Akrotiri, which remains closed for now.

🗿 Museum of Prehistoric Thera – Reopens March 26, 2025
🏺 Ancient Thera – Reopens March 27, 2025
🚧 Akrotiri Archaeological Site – Still closed, pending further safety checks.

Tourism Minister Όλγα Κεφαλογιάννη / Olga Kefalogianni, visited the island and participated in an extensive meeting with local authorities, where it was confirmed that:

✅ The island’s tourism & essential infrastructure are fully operational.
✅ Scientific committees are continuously monitoring the situation.
✅ The government is taking all necessary safety measures.
✅ Civil protection plans have been updated for extra security.

At the ITB Berlin International Tourism Fair, the response was outstanding, proving that Santorini remains a top holiday destination!

Tourism Minister’s Statement:
"Santorini is a safe, well-organized, and responsible tourism destination, fully prepared to welcome travelers from all over the world. With proper management and collaboration, this tourism season will have a positive trajectory for the island. We are not just returning—we are moving forward!"
