⚓ Yesterday, Samos Honoured Its Naval Heritage ⚓

Last night, the harbour of Pythagoreio came alive with the spectacular reenactment of the Naval Battle of Mycale, commemorating the historic victory of 5 August 1824.

The impressive event recreated the dramatic moments when the Greek fleet, under the leadership of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis, defeated the Ottoman-Egyptian fleet off the coast of Mycale (Gerontas), securing one of the most important naval victories of the Greek War of Independence.

Fireworks, illuminated vessels, traditional boats, and breathtaking visual effects transformed the sea into a living stage, allowing residents and visitors to relive a defining moment in Greece’s maritime history.

A heartfelt congratulations to the organizers, participants, and volunteers who brought this remarkable event to life and preserved the memory of those who fought for freedom.
