When visiting Kefalonia you must do a short boat trip with the singing Oarsman in Melissani Cave, located just outside Sami 🛶

The cave is one of Kefalonia’s most remarkable natural attractions and was formed when part of the roof collapsed centuries ago, allowing sunlight to stream in and illuminate the crystal-clear water in vivid shades of blue and turquoise.

According to Greek mythology, the cave was home to the nymph Melissani, from whom it takes its name.

Archaeological discoveries inside the cave suggest it was once an important place of worship in ancient times.

The most spectacular time to visit is around midday on a sunny day, when the sunlight creates the cave’s famous glowing effect on the water.

How gorgeous is this little house in Skopelos Town ! 💖💙🌺

It’s one of several places called SeaVilla Houses that are high up on the hill, and was the perfect place for this solo female traveller whose Greek husband had to head home for work.

Oozing with charm, well equipped, safe, private - well accept for the Instagrammers who all wanted a photo in the front door 😆

The beautiful, lively port town of Pythigoreio on Samos 🙌🏻

Very quiet during the day when everyone is out exploring the island, doing boat trips over to Türkiye or indeed at the adjacent beaches, but pumping late afternoon when the many tavernas, bars and cafes are full of people.

Some very interesting archaeology too at the Early Christian Basilica Pythagoria and the Tower of Lykourgos Logothetis 🕍🏛️

Beautiful Damouchari on the Pelion, arguably the most underrated region in Greece.

Located about 5 hours north of Athens the Pelion is where ‘the Centaurs roam’, a peninsula covered in forests with stunning beaches, coves, bays and villages including Damouchari, where the famous Dancing Queen scene from Mama Mia was filmed.

With just a couple of guests houses, a few villas, and three excellent tavernas it’s the perfect base to explore the region and soak up the absolute tranquility 🙌🏻

When staying in Santorini most first timers choose Fira, the capital, or Oia, famed for its sunsets and blue church domes.

But in between the two is the perfect alternative, without the crowds - Imerovigli.

Which also has amazing sunsets and blue church domes, as well as Skaros Rock. And it’s a short, downhill walk to Fira too.

Our #1 tip for Naxos.

Don’t go to the Portara Gate for sunset with the other 10,000 tourists.
Go at sunrise, with maybe 4 people. If that! 🙌🏻

Gedaki Beach on Ithaca

A rugged, unorganized beach with stunning water, it is a long hike from Vathy or you need a boat.

Honestly, does it get better than this? 🩵

Wish you could go to a Greek wedding and experience all the dancing and food and fun and plate smashing? 🕺🏻

If you are going to Santorini do NOT miss The Greek Wedding Show!

Set in the garden of a family home, guests are part of a wedding reception in the 1940s.

You’d be forgiven for thinking it’s some cheesy tourist trap but honestly it’s a very polished and professional series of performances with the opportunity to join in the dancing and plate smashing too. The food is rustic but plentiful (as it would have been back then), there’s plenty of wine, and lots of laughs.

There’s a full review and more information on the Santorini page on the website (link in Bio)

It does book out often in summer so get in early!

Of all the incredible sunsets we have seen in Greece and of all the fantastic food we have consumed, this modern seaside taverna in Skopelos has to be up there as one of the very best 🙌🏻

Located in the tiny port of Agnontas, which is also where we like to swim during the day, and have lunch at the traditional taverna next to this one.

One of the many charming, authentic and affordable villages in Crete is Plaka, on the coast near Spinalonga Island.

It’s the best spot to catch a ferry to the island, which takes less than 10 minutes, and has incredible views of it.

Its long history with Spinalonga is both sad and fascinating and many residents have ancestral stories about the former l***r colony and its dark past.

Stop for a Frappé, lunch or even stay a few days.

It’s really very beautiful 🩵🌺🧋
