Ancient Corinth and Canal ( Istmo) duration 4 hours
According to legend, the city was founded in the 15th century BC, in the full splendor of the Mycenaean civilization. It became rich with trade and in particular with the flourishing export of ceramic vases, furthermore it enjoyed an ideal geographical position, overlooking both the Ionian Sea from the Gulf of Corinth and the Aegean Sea from the Saronic Gulf. In 146 BC. it was attacked, destroyed and subsequently rebuilt by the Romans and became an important place for imperial cult activities. Furthermore, Corinth is mentioned many times in the New Testament, largely in connection with the mission of Paul the Apostle.
