Few areas in Greece are as green and beautiful as Platamonas. The place is known for its fine beaches, great mountains and beautiful green heights. The area is very hilly and the contrast between
sea and mountains makes it very grand and admirable. Mount Olympos, with its 2917 meters above sea level provides an impressive feeling. The entire region gets its water from the high mountains which finds its way into the streams and helps the nature to thrive. You can literally drink pure water from its wells all around the town, and you can't miss the great castle up on the highest hill, watching over Platamon. ACTIVITIES
Depending on what interests you have, there are different activities you can enjoy. Swimming and sunbathing is a must in Platamon, and with such big variety of beaches to go to, you are literally spoiled for choice. Everyone's favorite is the beach Kalamaki - meaning The Straw. Within 5-10 minutes walking distance south of town, it’s filled with beach bars, too suit every taste. And if you want to explore Platamons long beaches and bars, just walk along the shore and you will find several more. If you feel adventurous you can explore the area by renting a car and visiting the nearby town of Litochoro which is the port of the Olympic mountain range for hiking. See those beautiful views, enjoy the freshest air you'll ever breathe, visit the 16th century monastery "Agios Dionysos", or further up to terminus “Prionia”. Park the car and continue on foot to 1200m high and continue up to the exciting peaks of Mount Olympus. If you just want to do something more relaxing, you can rent a scooter or a car and visit the magnificent old and beautiful village "Palios Pandeleimon " (old Pandeleimon), 460 meters above sea level. There, you will find cozy restaurants and cafes close to the old Church of saint Pandeleimon. Enjoy really good Greek cuisine with some of the best red and rosé wines, or perhaps just a nice cup of green mint tea, wildly grown and hand-picked in the area. FOOD & BEVERAGE
Enjoy dishes of really good grilled meats and really nice fish in the fine restaurants, or have a cocktail in one of many nice launch bars along Platamon central Main Street. Platamon is well known for its fresh tasty fish, as it used to be an old fishing village back in the days. However if its meat you want, you HAVE to tuck in to a gyros, the most popular greek fast food. They are a divine treat and also a very good cure for hangover! NIGHTLIFE
You can find many bars and pubs on the main street of Platamon town center. In fact, Platamon nightlife attracts tourists from all over Greece and Europe and the nightclubs play music all night long. If you want more, visit the neighboring town of NEI PORI or other towns nearby, and the night is yours to exploit. White Bluebell and Hotel Ilios are two family owned businesses with 40 rooms that are housed in two complexes. The apartments are modern and newly renovated. Every apartment is equipped with air-condition and TV, an equipped kitchen, a nice bathroom and a big balcony. We are open seasonally from late May to September. The Rentals and hotel are located in the nice picturesque city village of Platamon, which is also called “Platamonas” in common Greek. Platamon and the rental apartments is located 100 kilometers south of the City of Thessaloniki and Thessaloniki Macedonian Airport, along the mainland coastline. You can get to the Rentals and hotel either by bus, train, or taxi. You will find the address and contact details further down this page. FLIGHTS FROM SWEDEN
Low cost fares are available with www.ryanair.se from Stockholm Skavsta Airport directly to Thessaloniki Macedonia Airport. Fares from Stockholm Arlanda Airport with www.airtours.se direct to Thessaloniki Macedonia Airport. Regular flights with connecting flights to Thessaloniki are available with all the major airlines. TRANSFER FROM AIRPORT TO BUS OR TRAIN STATION
Take the bus No 78 or 78N to the Bus or Train Station, the same bus “No 78 and 78N” calls at both stations. These busses operate regularly from the airport from 05.00 until 23.00. Alternatively take a taxi. It costs approximately 25 euro’s to the train station, and 35 euro’s to the bus station. BUS OPTION
If you decide to take the bus from "Thessaloniki bus station" (KTEL MAKEDONIA) it will cost you around 20 euro’s. The bus takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and there is a lot of beautiful scenery on the way there. When you get there, the bus will leave you in the centre of Platamon which is a 3 minute walk to the hotel. (See Photo)

If you decide to take the train it will cost you around 10 euro’s and it takes around 1 hour. The train actually takes you to NEI PORI which is next to Platamon. From the NEI PORI train station you can take a taxi to White Bluebell which will cost you around 5 Euros and 5 minutes to drive. There are taxis waiting in the train station. TAXI OPTION
There are plenty of taxis at the airport and are recommended for a fast and comfortable transportation. The journey takes approximately 60 minutes depending on traffic and stops, and of course, takes you all the way to the hotel. If you are two or more people coming, we would recommend sharing a taxi directly from the airport to White Bluebell Rentals – Hotel Ilios for a truly comfortable ride.
