Med tanke på värmen (hetta snarare) vi upplever nu i Grekland och de incidenter och tragiska dödsfall som hänt:
"Han varnar även för att svenskar ska ta värme på allvar och inte vara naiva.
– Det går mycket snabbare att dö av värme än av kyla. Det finns en anledning till att många länder har siesta mitt på dagen. Ska man vara fysiskt aktiv – var det på morgonen, sen eftermiddag eller på kvällen – inte mitt på dagen under gassande sol, säger han."

Blöt kläderna, lyssna på kroppen och ha med dig mycket vatten. Enkla men livsviktiga råd om du vandrar i stekande sol.

Cooked today after work.

Gavros Marinato/Marinated Anchovy.

Half a kilo of beheaded, de-boned and cleaned, in a swipe. Sprinkled with salt in layers and covered with sliced garlic, scallions, chilli, carrots, peppers, a pinch of oregano, 3-4 corns of pimento and covered in red wine vinegar and olive oil. Ready after 8-12 hours in the fridge, best after 24 hours served with Ouzo and fresh bread. This is meant to be eaten within 5 days. The oil will "clog" in the fridge but dissolve after 30 minutes at room temperature, as you chop a bit of parsley to sprinkle on top. Admin Kikh

One of the many highlights of the Greek table are the array of dips and spreads. Dips and spreads are often called salads (salates) in Greek and they pair wonderfully with our food culture that depends on bread so much.

Event: Panhellenic General Strike April 17, 2024

Public sector employees have announced a 24-hour Panhellenic General Strike throughout Greece for April 17, 2024.

In Athens, demonstrations related to the strike are scheduled at Syntagma Square at 10:30 a.m. In Thessaloniki, demonstrations will be held at the Venizelos Monument and at the Arch of Galerius (Kamara) at 10:30 a.m. Additional demonstrations are expected to take place throughout Greece during the day.

The following strikes are scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2024 (12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.), unless otherwise noted:

Taxis will be on strike from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The National Railway will be on a 24-hour strike.

The Attica/Peloponnese Suburban Railway will be on a 24-hour strike.

Port employees/ferries will be on a 24-hour strike.

Athens Green Line Train (Line 1) will be on a 24-hour strike.

Athens Metro (Lines 2 & 3) will be on a 24-hour strike.

Trams in Athens will be on a 24-hour strike.

Buses in Athens will operate only from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Trolleys in Athens will operate only from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Buses in Thessaloniki will be on a 24-hour strike.

Other organizations may decide to join the 24-hour Panhellenic General Strike for April 17, 2024 without prior warning.

Χρόνια πολλά Ελλάδα! We celebrated this year by cleaning the garden and making one part ready for our outdoor kitchen. A ton of "garbage" has been removed already and we only kept whatever we might need to make ready our BBQ. It's so relieving to see old "s**t" go!
After watering and cleaning we went for a traditional meal in tha next village - Modi, at Στο Μαρκουλάκη ". Since we are in the middle of the lent we had μπακαλιάρος/fried cod with σκορδαλιά/mashed potato with garlic, μπατσαρία/beetroots with vinegar and olive oil, χόρτα/season wild greens and some amazing fried potatoes. We also had live music, lokoumades/fried sweets and more Tsikoudia 🫣 In the end I think we had a whole bucket of Tsikoudia each 🤣🤣🤣

The airport of Heraklio on the island of Crete will close for five days in February due to the replacement of tarmac on the runway, according to media reports on Monday.
