Charming Villa Bali Bay is situated on Crete’s northern coast within the tourist-friendly village of Bali, 25 km east of Rethymnon and 45 km west of Heraklion. Once a modest fishing community nestled among mountains around a natural bay, Bali transformed into a lively modern resort boasting a wide range of amenities including taverns, restaurants, small shops, a diving school, bars, pharmacy etc
The village’s name dates to Turkish rule, with "Bali" meaning "Honey"—a nod to the area's reputation for honey production. During Venetian times, it was known as "Porto di Atali" and is believed to have served as the port for the ancient city of Attali. Lush green mountains shelter the village from winds, while secluded bays with crystal-clear water and a welcoming resort vibe make Bali an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday surrounded by nature’s beauty.
The village is especially stunning when viewed from the sea, with houses and hotels set onto the mountain slopes encircling Bali. There are four sandy beaches in Bali, each featuring clear, greenish water. The beaches remain mostly calm because the bay faces west, making them perfect for children. All are well-equipped with sun beds and organized facilities.
Villa Bali Bay sits just 50 meters from the sandy Varkotopos beach in the second bay. The beach features soft, pale sand throughout, including the underwater floor, and its gentle slope into the water makes it ideal for young children. The water sparkles in various shades of blue and green, remaining clean and clear most of the time. Children can safely build sandcastles or relax in the shallow waters. Additionally, the beach’s western orientation provides natural protection from wind and waves.
You'll find showers, sunbeds, and umbrellas available on the beach, and there are nearby shops and minimarkets if you need anything. A few taverns and bars beside the beach offer meals and refreshing drinks.
