Cicadas humming, Eurasian collared doves calling, the garden spilling past the window… and a neighbour who eventually notices we’re watching. 👀🐈

No rush. No agenda. Just open windows and the sounds of summer.

This one opens onto climbing vines, splashes of bougainvillea, and mornings that ask nothing of you except to pause for a moment.

A lovely get together last night, with many people gathering for the Karagiozis show by Crete Shadow Theatre! Thanks to Πολιτιστικός Σύλλογος Πηγής for the organisation and to Municipality of Rethymno for the support. Big and small, young and old, laughed and enjoyed the evening and the timeless jokes! 🎭😃🎤

The kind of summer night that smells of jasmine, sea air, and slow walks after dinner… summer is there and here in the village the evenings are only just beginning.

Maybe it’s time to trade rain jackets for warm midnight air and open windows. 🌙

While April rains fall across Europe, a door in the Stonehouse opens to cool stone, soft light, and quiet summer dreams 🪵🏡
A silver nest guards the entrance — a little promise of what’s to come…
Soon, real sparrows will return, and tiny beaks will peek out from their nests across the village walls.
Summer is closer than it feels. 🌿🐦
