Starting this Wednesday, September 16th, we are turning our streets over to the people as we celebrate European Mobility Week 2026!
From our youngest citizens learning bike and scooter safety in the squares, to families enjoying sunset rides along the coastal promenade, Rethymno is proving why we are a proud, certified Bike-Friendly Destination.
We have a massive week of FREE events planned for everyone:
Organized City Bike Rides, Outdoor Pilates & Aerobics, The big 5km Night Run,
Virtual Reality Road Safety Games, Open-Air Cinema ...and so much more!

It's harvesting time in Rethymno! 🍇
September marks the start of the trygos (grape harvest), one of Crete's most important and beautiful traditions. From the sunny vineyards to the traditional pressing of the grapes, this is a time when families and friends come together to celebrate the gifts of the earth. 🍷

The sweetest colors of late summer in Rethymno 🌵
As August comes to an end, the Cretan landscape gifts us with one of its most delicious treasures: wild prickly pears (frangosyka). Ripening under the Cretan sun, their warm orange and pink tones perfectly match the pastel colors of our city's sunsets.
With the historic Fortezza resting in the distance and a soft sea breeze in the air, this is the peaceful side of Crete we want you to experience.

History and nature in perfect harmony!
Just look at this sea turtle swimming peacefully through Rethymno port!
Taking a breath of fresh air right next to the traditional fishing boats, with the iconic Egyptian Lighthouse and the grand Fortezza fortress in the background... this is what makes Rethymno so unforgettable.
Our marine friends love our clean, welcoming waters. If you are lucky enough to spot one of these ancient travelers, remember to admire them quietly and respectfully from a distance.
