A splash of color, a dash of tradition. The doors of Koskinou village on Rhodes are a feast for the eyes and a tribute to timeless craftsmanship. Each one tells its own story, blending bold hues with intricate motifs rooted in local heritage. Walk through the winding alleys and you’ll find art in the everyday, where even a doorway becomes a canvas.

📍 Rhodes, Greece
In the heart of the island's capital, the majestic Palace of the Grand Master rises above the harbor like a timeless sentinel. Once the stronghold of the Knights of Saint John, this medieval fortress is one of the most iconic landmarks of the Dodecanese.

☀️ June 21st - Summer Solstice!

The longest day of the year has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, and where better to celebrate it than Rhodes, the legendary "island of the sun"? 🌞

With over 300 sunny days a year and one of the mildest winters in the Mediterranean, Rhodes has always been a symbol of light and warmth.

According to ancient myth, the sun god Helios fell in love with the island and claimed it as his own. In his honor, the Rhodians built one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - the Colossus of Rhodes - a 33-meter bronze statue, a beacon of power and radiance.

Today reminds us that the sun is not just part of Rhodes’ climate - it’s part of its soul. ✨

☀️ Happy Solstice to the light, to Rhodes, and to everyone who keeps its spirit shining!

There are places that don’t ask questions.
They simply invite you to let go.
To drift. To breathe.
Between sky and sea, all worries shrink to silence.

Good morning 🌅

Many of you, especially among those currently on the island, are wondering - and it is fully understandable - what to expect after the earthquake that shook the island last night.

Before you continue reading: so far no injuries or worse have been reported, only very minor insignificant damages.

We would like to repeat what we have been saying repeatedly: earthquakes of this magnitude are not considered abnormal in the area and modern structures / buildings in Greece should be well prepared for such seismic events due to strict construction regulations.

Here is also what seismologists have said in regards to the event of last night (text is automatically translated from Greek. Source: SKAI news Greece):

Greek seismologists reassuring - "That was the main earthquake," says Lekkas

The professor of geology and natural disaster management, Efthymios Lekkas, appeared reassuring.

"A quake of magnitude 5.8 occurred. What is crucial is that it happened at a depth of around 57 kilometers, which determines what follows. We will not have a rich aftershock sequence; that was the main earthquake and no tsunami was triggered. Nevertheless, it was felt across a very large area," said Mr. Lekkas on MEGA, and noted: "In no case are we worried about these kinds of earthquakes."

"It feels intense because, due to the depth, it affects a larger surface area, but these waves do not have the energy required to cause damage at the surface," he explained.

At the same time, Vasilis Karastathis, director of the Geodynamic Institute, also pointed out that such earthquakes are classified as intermediate-depth and are not followed by a strong aftershock sequence.

"It was an earthquake that did not raise concerns either in the scientific community or among the local population, due to its great depth. As a result, there were no damages - there was simply the sensation of the quake. However, we did not experience any consequences from the tremor," he stated.

There's something special about the Kamiros area on the west coast of Rhodes that’s hard to put into words. It’s one of the few seaside areas that hasn’t been overdeveloped. There is just enough to keep it interesting, but without the tourist crowds. You can relax on quiet beaches, eat at a few great local restaurants, explore nearby villages like Kritinia, or check out the ancient ruins of Kamiros itself. It feels completely different from the busy vibe in Rhodes town or the packed resorts on the east coast.
