SOME MOMENTS DON'T NEED WORDS. 🌅❤️

High above the coast, surrounded by the wild Cretan mountains, our Land Rovers come to a stop.

And then we simply wait.

For the sky to change.
For the sun to slowly disappear behind the mountains.
For one of those moments when everyone gets a little quieter. ✨

This is our Sunset Safari.

But the sunset is only the grand finale. 🚙🇬🇷

Before we get here, we leave the usual tourist routes behind, discover traditional villages, experience local life and flavours, and take our 4x4s into the Cretan mountains.

And at the end of the adventure?

We take you to one of our favourite spots – far away from crowded viewpoints – where there's nothing between you, the mountains and the setting sun. 🌄

THIS IS PREVELI. 🌴💙

One of those places where Crete almost doesn't look like Crete.

A river winds its way through a dramatic gorge, surrounded by a natural forest of Cretan date palms, before finally meeting the Libyan Sea. The result is one of the most distinctive landscapes on the island. 🌴🌊 Preveli is also protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

But Preveli isn't only about its famous palm beach.

The area is deeply connected to the historic Monastery of Preveli, whose story reaches back centuries. During Crete's struggles for freedom, its monks repeatedly supported resistance movements. In 1821 the monastery became involved in the uprising against Ottoman rule, and during the Cretan Revolution of 1866–69 it sheltered and cared for refugees.

And its story continued during World War II.

After the Battle of Crete in 1941, hundreds of Allied soldiers were stranded on the island. The monks of Preveli risked their own lives by hiding soldiers in the monastery and surrounding area and helping them escape towards the Middle East.

So when you're standing between the palms, following the river towards the sea, you're not only looking at one of Crete's most beautiful places.

You're standing in a landscape filled with nature, history and stories of courage. ❤️

High above the beautiful Potamon Lake, surrounded by mountains and untouched Cretan nature, we make a very special stop at a small Orthodox chapel.

But we don't simply stop to take a photo.

Our guests gather around their guide to hear about the Orthodox faith, its traditions and the important role it still plays in everyday life on Crete.

Because here, small chapels can be found almost everywhere – in villages, between olive groves, high in the mountains and sometimes in places where you would least expect them.

They are part of the island.
Part of its traditions.
Part of its people. ❤️

After learning more about this deeply rooted side of Cretan culture, we step inside the little chapel before taking a moment to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Potamon Lake.
