The Walnut Tree is a spacious villa in a rural setting with panoramic views of the Greek countryside, the hillsides and mountains of Kefalonia and glimpses of the Ionian Sea and the island of Ithaca. The villa is arranged on two floors comfortably accommodating ten guests in five bedrooms in two self-contained apartments, making it suitable for two families or groups of friends wishing to holiday

together. Extra guests can be accommodated by arrangement with the owners. The villa is set in secluded gardens and landscaped grounds of just over an acre with a private (10m x 5x) swimming pool, a boule court, table tennis, a barbecue area. The location of The Walnut Tree villa is central to the island of Kefalonia and perfect for exploring the rest of this fascinating and beautiful holiday destination.

Looking for a day trip to Ithaca, but not sure where to start? ☀️ Known as the legendary home of Odysseus, Ithaca is an island where mythology meets breathtaking natural beauty. With its charming harbours, traditional villages, crystal-clear waters and relaxed pace of life, it's easy to see why this small Ionian gem has inspired travellers for thousands of years.

Catch the 8:15am Ionion Pelagos ferry from Sami and enjoy the short crossing to Ithaca. Start your day in Vathy, the island's beautiful capital, nestled around one of the world's largest natural harbours. With its colourful neoclassical buildings, waterfront cafés, boutique shops and laid-back atmosphere, it's the perfect place to slow down and soak up authentic Greek island life. ⛴️☕

Enjoy a coffee by the water before taking a leisurely stroll around the town's charming shops and picturesque harbour.

From Vathy, it's just a scenic 30-minute drive to the pretty fishing village of Frikes, where colourful boats bob in the harbour and waterfront tavernas provide the perfect setting for a relaxed lunch by the sea. 🍽️

After lunch, it's only a 5-minute drive to beautiful Polis Bay, where you can spend a few hours swimming in crystal-clear waters and soaking up the tranquillity of one of Ithaca's most picturesque beaches. 🏖️

When it's time to head home, the drive from Polis Bay to Pisaetos ferry port takes around 20 minutes, leaving plenty of time to catch the 17:15 Levante Ferries sailing back to Sami. ⛴️

The Walnut Tree Villa is open for the 2026 season 🌿☀️

After a wet winter, the gardens have exploded into colour — wildflowers, orchids, roses, and buzzing honey bees everywhere. Inspired by “No Mow May,” we’ve embraced a more natural garden this year, creating a beautiful haven for wildlife and guests alike.

Bougainvillaea has now been planted across the garden frame, already adding a splash of colour and, in time, creating beautiful natural shade for the warmer months 🌸

The pool is sparkling and ready for long summer days with some new loungers added.

Inside, we’ve refreshed some soft furnishings, replaced the sofa beds upstairs and added 2 new guest beds - increasing our capacity! The Wi-Fi has been upgraded to satellite — making it faster, more reliable, and thunderstorm-safe ⚡

Most importantly, we’re already welcoming guests from around the world — from Tasmania to family celebrations, milestone birthdays, and anniversaries ❤️

The 2026 season is underway… and 2027 bookings are already filling up.
