vel and tarred roads heading up until the top of Mount Ainos (1628 m) which marks the heart of Ainos Nationalpark. In the past years more and more marked hiking trails had been made and guiding hikers to lovely locations, old ruin villages and places with spectacular views of the island. Many of these old trails had been used in the older days by donkeys and goats. Especially autumn and spring are the best seasons for hiking. No matter if you are beginner or experienced. As well as good shoes and hiking equipment also a well tempered and sure footed companion will give you these extraordinary "greek hiking" feeling. My four donkeys are well trained, friendly animals and like to be used as racks and attendants which set the pace and slow you down. Deceleration at the highest stage. You have never been close to a donkey before? Then take your time and make some new friends step by step. In this hour you have time to feed, brush, pet and cuddle the donkeys. Trekking offers: (please note: all tours are guided!)
Costs per hour: 25€ per donkey ( includes one person leading the donkey and one child riding) Every additional persons pays 5€ per hour. Families with 3 kids or more get a 10% discount. Please note: Donkeys shouldn't carry more than 20% of their own bodyweight. To make sure that my donkeys are staying healthy everybody with a bodyweight up to 50kg is welcome for a donkey ride. Grisella and Wiolätta will guide you to the ruin village of old Katapodata. This in 1953 fully destroyed village offers you a spectacular view ofer the bay of Sami and delivers an impressive insight into the Life of the island 60 years ago. Drogarati cave tour: 2,5 hours
Visit one of Kefalonias main attractions: Drogarati cave. Together we´ll hike to the stalactite cave. Take your time to discover the place, have an ice cream and shop for souvernirs. On the way back we´ll walk along a riverbed on the old mill trail. Day trip (walking time 6-7 hours)
We are taking a route along the westside of mountain Avgos, east of Sami, until we reach the ancient sights around Agios Fernendes. On old donkey trails we ll pass by olive and pine tree groves and immerse ourselves into the antic history of Kefalonia. On the way back we pass by Sami and stay there for a longer break. Choose spontaneously if you want to go to a restaurant, enjoy ice-cream or relax at the beach for a while. We are taking the route through the valley back to the stable, passing by Greek farms and olive groves. Price for a day trip: 140€ for the first donkey -every extra donkey: + 25€
