Happy Easter 🐣

Today we celebrate Greek Orthodox Easter. If you have never been in Greece during this period, we strongly advise you to do so in the future. It means the celebration of love, hope for new beginnings, strong emotions, connection with our culture.

Easter in Greece is more than just a religious thing. Of course, there are a lot of church sessions and rituals that we follow, but there are also numerous traditions that we have in each place of the country, that makes Easter truly unique!

What is common in all places, is that we spent these days gathering with beloved friends and family, eat, drink, sing and dance to traditional Greek music!

P.S. Our fresh eggs painted naturally in a special plant's roots from Serifos! 😉

Serifos, as all Cycladic islands, is characterized by low rainfall and impenetrable rocks. Although there are some small springs created by the crags of the granite, the water volume provided is disproportionally small and difficult to exploit.

However, Captain's House, since it was first built, has an underground cistern that collects the rainfall water from its roof. Looks like that in the past, sustainability was their way of living! 💦

Also, guests visiting Serifos should know that water is drinkable, so you can bring your reusable water bottle and fill it whenever you are leaving home!

Today's sunrise, the first of spring 2021, dedicated with love to all of you!

Yesterday was the spring equinox, meaning that northern hemisphere leans towards the sun! In other words, days and nights have approximately the same length. Most importantly, we hope that this equinox will be the time for new beginnings!
