Υπήρξε μια εποχή που ολόκληρη η #Σκιάθος ζούσε πίσω από αυτά τα τείχη. Για σχεδόν 7 αιώνες, το Κάστρο αποτέλεσε το οχυρωμένο καταφύγιο των κατοίκων του νησιού, προστατεύοντάς τους από τις πειρατικές επιδρομές και γράφοντας ένα από τα σημαντικότερα κεφάλαια της ιστορίας της Σκιάθου.

On 23 August, honours the memory of the events of 1944, when the island came under attack during the German occupation in World War II. Fires broke out across parts of the island, leaving a lasting mark on the local community and its history.
Today, the people of Skiathos remember those difficult moments and pay tribute to the resilience of those who lived through them.
Skiathos is known for its natural beauty, but its identity has been shaped by the people, the memories and the history that continue to define it.

Στις 23 Αυγούστου 1944, κατά τη διάρκεια της γερμανικής κατοχής, η Σκιάθος βρέθηκε αντιμέτωπη με μία από τις πιο δύσκολες στιγμές της σύγχρονης ιστορίας της. Φωτιές ξέσπασαν σε σημεία του νησιού, αφήνοντας πίσω τους πληγές που δεν ξεχάστηκαν ποτέ.

Κάθε χρόνο, η ημέρα αυτή αποτελεί μια στιγμή μνήμης και τιμής για τους ανθρώπους που έζησαν τα γεγονότα του 1944 και για την αντοχή ενός τόπου που κατάφερε να σταθεί ξανά όρθιος.
