From May 1st, the fire season comes into effect throughout the country, with authorities calling on citizens and visitors to exercise special caution, especially in forest and rural areas.
High temperatures, strong winds and dry vegetation significantly increase the risk of fires starting and spreading rapidly. For this reason, strict prohibitions and prevention measures are in place.
What is prohibited?
During the fire season, the following are prohibited:
-Lighting a fire in the countryside.
-The use of barbecues in forests, groves and areas with dry grass.
-Smoking in forest areas.
-The use of tools that cause sparks, such as grinders and welding.
-The disposal of garbage or flammable materials in nature.
-Parking vehicles in places that prevent access for firefighting equipment.
Violators face severe administrative fines and criminal penalties.
Prevention saves lives and property
The competent services remind that the protection of forests is everyone's responsibility. Even a small negligence can cause great destruction to the natural environment, homes and human lives.
In case anyone notices smoke or fire, they must immediately notify the Fire Department by calling 199 or 112 .
