PROJECT DESCRIPTION

XpRience Thess was implemented under the Action “Innovation Investment Plans” of the Programme “Central Macedonia” of the ESPA 2021–2027, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and National Resources with a total budget of: €393,213.43. The project commenced in October 2021 and was completed in February 2025.
It is an innovative tourism product offering digital guided tours at sites of historical and cultural interest across Thessaloniki, using Virtual and Augmented Reality (AR/VR) technologies. Through specially designed mobile applications, visitors can access 3D visualizations, audiovisual content and digital storytelling that highlight key events of the city’s modern history and the evolution of its urban landscape.
XpRience Thess contributes to the promotion and preservation of Thessaloniki’s cultural heritage, the creation of new attractive cultural routes and the engagement of younger audiences, while also supporting local development and innovation in the field of cultural tourism.

Mazi Travel @ Philoxenia 2025: Sustainable Tourism Practices
At Philoxenia 2025, Mazi Travel presented a comprehensive approach to sustainable tourism: Environment, Supply Chain, Corporate Culture, and Leadership. From reducing paper use with Cropicorn app to enhancing awareness and participation of suppliers and customers, our actions deliver measurable results: - 7 months of operation with key results: reduction of printing by 1,890 sheets, savings in consumable costs of €108, CO2 reduction of 10.4 kg, etc. - Programs, tools, and corresponding measurements for improving the supply chain (VGP, CR tools, etc.). We look forward to continuing our collaboration with customers, partners, and stakeholders for sustainable tourism.

Mazi Travel successfully organized a one-day excursion on Saturday, October 4th, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities in collaboration with The Smile of the Child. Children and their caregivers, together with Mazi Travel staff and their families, explored the unique ecosystem of Lake Kerkini through interactive and educational activities.

The day combined fun with lessons on sustainability in tourism, using specially designed games to raise awareness on the ecological footprint of tourism and promote good visitor practices.

We thank the Center for Environmental Education of Eleftheriou - Kordeliou & Vertiskos (https://www.kpe-thess.gr/el) and the KPE Archanon (https://kpe-archan-new.ira.sch.gr) for their valuable support and educational materials. A special thanks to the guesthouse "Oikoperiigitis" (https://www.oikoperiigitis.gr) and local butcher shop "To Xasapaki" (https://toxasapaki.gr/ ) for generously supporting the picnic lunch near the lake.

Our visit to the Lake Kerkini Wetland Information Center (http://www.limnikerkini.com) enriched everyone’s understanding of this precious ecosystem and the importance of preserving biodiversity.

CSR Action by Mazi Travel for The Smile of the Child

We’re excited to announce a new CSR initiative by Mazi Travel in partnership with The Smile of the Child. This Saturday, October 4, we’ll host a day-trip to Lake Kerkini, bringing together children and their chaperones from The Smile of the Child, along with Mazi Travel staff and the children themselves.

Our goals:
- Create joyful, memorable experiences for the kids while they connect with the local ecosystem of Lake Kerkini through hands-on activities.
- Educate and raise awareness among children about the environmental footprint of tourism through specially designed games for this initiative.
- Foster understanding of best practices for visitors to a destination, helping prepare responsible visitors for future generations.

- Engaging activities that blend fun with learning about nature, conservation, and responsible tourism.
- A collaborative effort to empower young minds with practical environmental stewardship.
