Παγκόσμια ημέρα υγροτόπων

H Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Υγροτόπων εορτάζεται κάθε χρόνο στις 2 Φεβρουαρίου

Στις 2 Φεβρουαρίου 1971 υπογράφτηκε η Σύμβαση για τους Υγροτόπους στην πόλη Ραμσάρ του Ιράν, στις ακτές της Κασπίας Θάλασσας. Υγρότοποι χαρακτηρίζονται τα δέλτα, τα έλη, οι λίμνες, οι λιμνοθάλασσες, οι πηγές, οι εκβολές, οι ποταμοί και οι τεχνητές λίμνες. Η συνθήκη Ραμσάρ αποσκοπεί στην προστασία και τη συνετή χρήση όλων των υγροτόπων μέσω τοπικών και εθνικών δράσεων και διακρατικής συνεργασίας ως μια συνεισφορά στην αειφόρο ανάπτυξη.
Το Δέλτα Αξιού προστατεύεται από αυτή την συνθήκη, όπως επίσης και από το Natura 2000.

Να είμαστε καλά, να χαιρόμαστε και να σεβόμαστε τους υγρότοπους όσοι αγαπάμε την φύση
