For our foreign friends inside and outside of Greece
Back to the water. Summer 2020.
In every sailing boat, the peculiarities of so many people have to coexist in such a limited space for a set amount of time. Therefore, some important concepts so that everyone will have an unforgettable vacation are ‘conciliation’ and ‘communication’. And communication is usually made up of phrases, sentences, words….WORDS. Then, the following question comes in mind; in what language will these words be spoken?
Greek language (our native) has a few hundred thousand words, but is spoken by few people on the planet, while English is the international language of the world. Wanting to emphasize the concept of conciliation, without a trace of chauvinism and with respect to other languages, we chose some of the forty thousand words that English has adopted from our language, and decided to “dress” our quirky Greek-built boat ‘Epipleon’, with some of the more international repertoire.
Words are also needed when you have to describe your magical voyages in the idyllic waters of our open sea, but also when you sail deep in imagination, love, music, gastronomy or even the dream that excites you…The only case where words are superfluous when sailing, even if the sails are not inflated by the Aegean winds (meltemia), is when the sails of our soul are filled with a pandemonium of senses, such that it erases words such as crises, anxiety, pandemic, boredom, melancholy…
Truly, I would highly urge you to find out how much easier it is to define the word ‘happiness’ while floating in turquoise and blue waters in a small bay of an uninhabited island.
Wishes for a healthy and good summer season.
Until we meet again
