The previous weekend we organized a custom tour for photography and birdwatching in Lake Kerkini. Object of the tour was to take some good pictures of pelicans ( Dalmatians and if possible Great Whites ) and also spot Syrian Woodpeckers.

Report from Evros Delta midwinter observations

Thousands of water birds and other species find shelter every winter in Evros Delta, coming from Northern countries. The lagoons, the wet meadows and the shallow coastal areas offer food and security in swans, geese, ducks, waders, raptors.

The numbers of geese are increasing day by day, as it happens every January and February in Evros Delta. The Lesser White fronted Goose is a Globally Threatened Species and its European population numbers 20 – 25 pairs.

Interesting winter observation at Evros Delta, Greece

Little Bustards were spoted in December at Evros Delta, Greece. There are 10-11 individuals and the local National Park authorities hope that they will spend the winter in teh area
