We are the Materns - Peter, Silvia, Sofia and Ellie, a family from Bulgaria, who in 2016 decided to follow their dream of buying a sailboat. And not just any sail boat, but a family comfortable sailing catamaran. Our ultimate goal was to get a luxury and spacious catamaran and place it in a crewed charter program as owner operators.
We have already done a very deep research on which boat to purchase as she had comply best with comfort, luxury, safety, performance, price and space! We test sailed catamarans, visited the Boat Expo in Duesseldorf, led many negotiations with yacht dealers and voila... It's no secret no more!
In January 2019, we ordered our Bali 4.1, then we established a Greek maritime company to charter our future sailboat starting in April 2020. We named our beautiful BALI 4.1 catamaran IRIS, after the Greek goddess of the Rainbow. Last but not least, we sailed her ourselves from her production line in HACO/CATANA SAS Shypyards in Cap Bonn, Tunisia to Lefkada, Greece in the summer of 2019, where our children joined for further 750nm of sailing IRIS from the Ionian to the Aegean Sea until Septermber. We happily sailed until the end of October and now IRIS is berthed at Port of Kavala patiently awaiting her first sailors in April 2020.
