The bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus) is one of Europe’s rarest birds of prey, and Crete is its last stronghold in Greece…!!! It feeds mainly on bones, dropping them from great heights to crack them open — which is why it’s also called the ‘bone breaker.’ Today I was lucky enough to spot one resting on a hotel rooftop in Georgioupolis..!!!
