Twelve strangers at 3,976 m.

They met in Antigua yesterday. They walked up through farmland, cloud forest, alpine ridge and volcanic sand together. Somebody carried somebody’s water. Stories of home were swapped by the fire. iOur guides are from these valleys. Bilingual, certified in first aid, and the reason twelve strangers come down the mountain looking like this.

Small groups aren’t a marketing line. They’re a load limit - for the trail, and for how well one guide can actually know twelve people. That’s the Trek Guatemala difference.

Our guide Brolo has led hundreds of groups to the Acatenango summit. He knows which window gives you the best light, when the clouds are coming, when to push and when to slow down.

He’s also one of our most requested guides. Particularly among female travelers. We’ll let the photo speak for itself….

Book your Acatenango overnight at trekguatemala.com - and yes, Brolo is waiting!

The Cathedral of Santiago was one of the largest in Central America when it was completed in 1680. The earthquakes of 1773 left what you see here - and somehow it’s more beautiful for it.

This is one of the stops on Trek Guatemala’s Antigua city tour, where our guides explain not just what happened but what it meant to the people who lived through it and kept rebuilding.

DM us for details on our guided city walks.

On a clear day you can see every fold of the mountain - every lava channel, every ridge line.

The Fuego Fireworks extension takes you down into the valley between Acatenango and Fuego, then up Fuego’s flanks to the knife ridge - 2,000 feet below the active crater, closer than anywhere else you can responsibly be. What looks like a distant cone from basecamp becomes this.

It’s a 3–4 hour add-on after a full day of hiking. It requires real fitness. It’s worth it.

A real bed. A copper lantern. A handwoven pillow from a cooperative in the western highlands. And that million dollar view.

Trek Guatemala’s 4-day trek glamping tents are set up before you arrive and broken down after you leave. All you carry is a day pack.

Rainy season is the perfect time to go.

From 13,041 feet, you can count the volcanoes as the sun comes up. Most mornings you get four or five. On a clear day you get more.

Trek Guatemala’s Acatenango overnight hike puts you at the summit in time for this. The climb starts before dawn. The view is the reason.

DM us to book your spot.
