Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will be major rains; be aware of landslides, floodings, the fact that saturation is already 90-100% in some areas of the country and plan accordingly (e.g. for going to the airport) because traffic will be a mess.

TRADITIONS IN GUATEMALA: 7th of December: The Quema del Diablo

Every year, on the 7th of December at 6pm, the QUEMA DEL DIABLO takes place in Guatemala.

Here are five facts about the Quema del Diablo in Guatemala ☝️
1. The origin of the "Burning of the Devil" comes from the municipality of Villa Nueva. The reason is not known.
2. Although popular religiosity gives it a symbolic value of purification through fire, the Catholic Church does not recognize this tradition.
3. In some places, the burning is known as "Las Luminarias de la Virgen".
4. The tradition of "our grandparents" said that on December 7 we should burn everything old and what brought us bad memories, in order to receive the blessing of the Virgin the next day
5. Not all municipalities take part in the Quema del Diablo. Let's see tonight if you are lucky. ;-)
