Multicolores is a Guatemala registered non-profit organization that supports Maya women in their process of self-discovery and artistic development. Multicolores uses art as a tool for exploration and expression, igniting the artists’ many talents and abilities, and empowering them to become powerful agents of change. Multicolores works with groups of Maya K’iché, Kaqchiquel and Tzutujil women fro

m the Guatemalan highlands. Our artists represent 9 communities from the regions of Sololá, Totonicapán, Quiché, Quetzaltenango and Sacatepéquez. Together we are a strong support network that encourages well-being and fulfillment among all members. We believe in mutual aid, promote environmental consciousness and thrive on building relationships with diverse local and international communities.

Our team continues to grow, and we’re so happy to welcome a new creative mind to Multicolores. ✨

Meet Adela, our new Graphic Designer.

She’ll be helping us tell the stories of our artists, our communities, and the work that happens behind every rug, embroidery piece, and creative project.

We’re excited for everything we’ll create together.

Stay tuned to get to know Adela a little better over the coming days. 🤍

Behind every rug is an artist, a story, and a lifetime of inspiration.

Today, we want you to meet Micaela Churunel Ajú, one of the talented rug hooking artists who has been part of Multicolores since 2013.

Inspired by traditional Maya textiles, ancestral knowledge, and the creativity of her community, Micaela transforms reclaimed materials into contemporary works of art that speak across cultures.

This year, one of her rugs continues an extraordinary journey through Europe as part of *Guatemala Diseña con las Manos*, traveling from Madrid to Milan, then Berlin, and soon arriving in Paris.

We couldn’t be prouder to see the work of our artists reaching new audiences while carrying the stories, identity, and creativity of Guatemala with them.

Stay tuned... there is so much more to come. ✨🤍

A few moments from a day that reminded us what leadership truly looks like. ✨

Our Mentorship Program is about so much more than sharing artistic techniques. It’s about building confidence, strengthening communities, and preparing experienced artists to inspire the next generation.

We believe that the strongest leaders are those who choose to grow alongside others, sharing their knowledge, listening, and creating space for new voices to flourish.

Here’s to the women who continue weaving creativity, leadership, and community into everything they do. 🤍

What an unforgettable few days at the International Folk Art Market. 🤍

To everyone who stopped by our booth, shared a conversation, admired our artists’ work, took a piece home, or simply supported our mission, thank you.

Your kindness, encouragement, and appreciation for the work of Maya women artists mean more than words can express. Every connection we made reminded us why we continue creating and sharing these stories with the world.

We already can’t wait to return next year and continue this beautiful journey together.

And if you didn’t have the chance to take home one of our rugs or embroidery pieces during IFAM, you can still explore our collection through our online shop and continue supporting the work of our artists from wherever you are. ✨

Our first moments at IFAM have already been filled with joy, meaningful conversations, and beautiful new connections. ✨

One of the greatest gifts of being here is watching our artists’ work find new homes, where each piece will continue telling its story and become part of someone else’s everyday life.

Every rug, embroidery, and handmade creation represents the creativity of Maya women artists, thoughtfully crafted using reclaimed materials and transformed into contemporary works of art.

If you’re visiting the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe, we’d love to welcome you to our booth. Come discover one-of-a-kind pieces, meet our team, and learn the stories behind every creation.

Do you recognize these wonderful women? ✨

In just a few days, they’ll once again be representing Guatemala at the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe, one of the world’s most celebrated gatherings of folk artists, taking place from July 9–12. (Santa Fe)

Looking back at these memories reminds us how much this journey has given us. Every conversation, every friendship, every shared story, and every connection has reinforced why we do what we do.

Returning to means reconnecting with old friends, meeting inspiring artists from around the world, and continuing to share the work of Maya women artists with a global community that values handmade art, culture, and creativity.

We are so grateful to be part of this experience once again, and we can’t wait to take you along for the journey.

Stay tuned… Santa Fe, we’ll see you very soon. 🤍

Leadership is something we create together. ✨

At Multicolores, we believe that some of the strongest leaders are already within our communities.

Our new Mentorship Program recognizes the experience, commitment, and talent of our artists by preparing them to become mentors for new generations of creators. Alongside strengthening their artistic practice, they are developing leadership, communication, and facilitation skills that will allow them to guide, inspire, and support other women on their own creative journeys.

This program is rooted in a simple belief: sustainable change happens when knowledge stays within communities.

Every woman who becomes a mentor helps create opportunities that extend far beyond a single artwork. She strengthens confidence, encourages creativity, nurtures leadership, and contributes to a future where women continue empowering one another through art.

Because every great artist deserves the opportunity to become a leader, and every leader has the power to inspire many more. 🤍
