Volcan Lacandon or the big stone, is a volcano … sometimes not recognized as a volcano but it definitely is. . Altitude 2748 meters above sea-level and in a subtropical climate what makes it nice to walk and completely another scenery than Santa Maria or Tajumulco. Generally considered a challenging route, this trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. After bringing you to San Martin Chile Verde (in fact a little lower, direction of Colomba) from Quetzaltenango (Xela) you will start the hike at about 6.00am for at least 3 hours the whole way up to the top while you will enjoy amazing views of the surroundings ... The vegetation is so dense that from the summit it is very difficult to see the landscape. In its surroundings, due to the abundance of rivers, a coffee-growing area has prospered, sowing farms along the route from the volcano to Colomba Costa Cuca. The descend is about 2 to max 2.30 hours what means that the whole trip is taking about 8 hours, transport included. (with public transport can be more)
