Our Natural Selections Tours Ultimate Tiger Experience continues to produce sightings, experiences and photographs that are hard to beat, with our two 2026 groups recording over 60 Tiger sightings, 18 Leopard sightings, and all the other amazing Indian birds and wildlife we see along the way. Needless to say, photographic opportinuties were beyond expectations and as such, we are super excited to be returning to India in 2027 for Tigers, Leopards, and the best of India's magnificent wildlife and birds!

Adrian Binns leads our 2027 Tiger photo tour, along with our post tour Kaziranga One-horned Rhino extension. And we're enhancing these experiences even more with a 3-night extension of Jhalana Leopard Reserve which is hands down, the best Leopard photography oportunity in India (email for details). A pre-tour visit to the famous Taj Mahal is also available.

COSTA RICA NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY November 30 to December 9, 2026!

Matt Sullivan leads this easy and fun 9-night tropical nature-photo program that maximizes opportunities for the some of the most emblematic bird, reptile and wildlife photography in Costa Rica. During this workshop, we'll focus not only on technique, composition, lighting, equipment and all the rest, but will also learn about our subjects themselves, as well as understanding and anticipating their behavior, which is an extremely important factor not as well understood by many nature photographers.

We'll be combining field work, macro photography, landscape photography and feeding stations in the central Pacific region, the Tarcoles River, Arenal, Boca Tapada, and Chinchona, and we'll be fitting all the toucans, hummingbirds, eyelash vipers, red-eyed treefrogs, and exciting Costa Rican wildlife we can into 10 days!

Natural Selections Tours is extremely honored to be joined once again by artists Catherine Hamilton and Debby Kaspari on their new birding & sketching tour of Belize in July of 2025!

Their 2024 Peru trip was so enjoyable that Catherine, Debby, and I got together to design another shorter, more affordable tour which along with its post-tour extension will take them to Belize’s Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area, Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, and South Water Caye and the Caribbean.

To read the bios of these two women artists is humbling to say the least. Their respective lifetimes devoted to conservation, birding, and natural history art and instruction span several decades. Their positive impact on conservation is in a word, immense. Superlatives don’t even begin to do their talents justice, and a tour to the neotropics led by these ladies has to be among the best experiences possible!

INDIA'S TIGERS, 2025!

Our 2024 Natural Selections Tours Ultimate Tiger Experience was just incredible, with nearly 40 different Tiger sightings, and our groups are filling for 2025.

As always, we’ve gotten a great deal from our partners in India, and can offer what will be our fourth year of India photo tours at an incredible rate. Even if you’re more naturalist than photographer, experiencing Bengal Tigers in nature are too good to pass up, especially when they come with the chance to be face to face with all the other spectacular Indian Wildlife.

The first is a 13-night ultimate Tiger safari and takes us to Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench Tiger reserves. The second compliments the ultimate Tiger safari, and is a 6-night extension to Kaziranga National Park in far northeastern India, for incredibly prehistoric-looking One-horned Rhinos and more.
Rates start at $5,861 for the main Tiger tour and $2,788 for the Kaziranga extension and dates are Feb. 21 to March 7 and March 6 to 12.

BIRDING BELIZE, 2025!

With a diversity of over 574 species of birds, the nation of Belize is a favorite Central American destination among birders and nature lovers. To its east, the massive Belize Barrier Reef, dotted with hundreds of low-lying cays, hosts some of the richest marine life in the Caribbean. To the west, Belize’s dry, pine, and rain forest areas are home to Mayan ruins like Caracol, lagoon-side Lamanai, and Altun Ha, just outside Belize City.

The essence of a good photograph as opposed to a picture is that is evokes emotion or tells a story. I try to do that and most of the truly good photographers I know do as well. Sometimes though, there is a moment or thing that causes us to do what we can, and then tell the rest of the story with words.

This was one of those times. I was in the New Jersey Pine Barrens crossing an area of cranberry bogs where I hadn't the slightest notion that I'd see any reptiles other than a King Snake, Water Snake, or maybe with luck, a Timber Rattlesnake. It was a wet area, and the idea that rat snakes would be here was as remote from my thoughts as could be. And then as often happens, I was stopped in my tracks by unexpected beauty.

This Black Rat Snake was stretched out in the sunset, very gravid and all kinked up as rat snakes do. I stopped, and by slowly moving closer inch by inch, was permitted by this snake to have my 100 mm lens not more than 10 inches away on a tripod. I stayed there easily 15 minutes and the snake never moved. Being so close on my belly on the ground, gave a unique opportunity to see myself reflected in the eye of this sentient being, on its terms, in its own world, and think about what it must have been thinking

In the end, I lifted myself and the snake never moved as I backed off and continued on.
