It's almost that time of year again where lobster and conch are out of season. From March 1st through June 30th it is illegal to catch either of these to allow their populations to recover! Even when lobster and conch are in season, make sure to only buy ones that are legally sourced. There is no lobster fishing allowed within the Bay Islands National Park, which means that legally caught lobster has been caught from outside the park and is delivered frozen. If it's fresh, that means it's been caught inside the park. Even if you dream of buying fresh lobster and conch from a guy on the beach, it's a big no-no and not sustainable!
Without demand, there can be no supply, so let's practice and help Roatan be the best it can be.

My first fish caught on the island was with my dad, a decent sized Wahoo. It’s only appropriate that 3 years later and now with our own boat he gets to catch his own Wahoo (plus Mahi Mahi and plenty of tuna). Go team!
