DEN OF THE KRAKEN!
==================
Went out today with the usual suspects.
And nineteen lionfish off the reef.
Nineteen fewer eating everything on it.
A few lunkers, some mediums that you got to work to get the meat off of, and a few tiny ones I'll throw at the cat.
The undercuts are why they're down there, and the undercuts are also why it's such a good dive.
Shallow coral heads and canyons you can get lost in on purpose. Everywhere you look is a nursery.
Nobody else anchors on this one, so nothing's picked over. Started filling the keeper pretty quick on this one and when you're traveling with blood next to you, you pay attention.
So did the massive mutton snapper that was almost brave enough to come see what was up. And the barracuda that followed us most of the way.
Seventy minutes of bottom time. It would be one of the best dives even if we never took a spear.
But aren't they all?
So, the next couple of hours is the part nobody puts in the brochure: cleaning nineteen lionfish.
Tomorrow?
Ceviche!
It's our spot, around the point from the dock. Come get in it with us.
