We are both escapees from the rat race, now "living the dream" in the house by the sea. Tommy has been on the island since 2010, and Jen since 2014. We came to Roatan on vacation, and decided to stay because it was user-friendly, yet not commercialized. The Turtle Beach area is a gem on this part of the island, because it is accessible to the hustle & bustle of West End & West Bay, but maintains its island charm. The house is situated on a hill, and the breeze coming down is almost always cool. Lack of commercial businesses in our village means lots of stars at night. Unique Benefits
A flock of scarlet macaws live in Gumbalimba Park & regularly pass overhead, occasionally making a pit stop for berries in the trees. How often can you say, "Look, the macaws are flying overhead"! Living by a coral reef that's 2nd to Australia's has its perks. Clearwater Adventures dive shop is tops in its category for good reason, but if you would rather stay "close to shore" and close to the surface, there is great snorkeling as you walk into the water at Turtle Beach - grouper, tuna, sea stars, lobster, octopus, eels - too many to name. You have to come here to experience it.
